Our review on the different functions of RKIP on tumor cells and the heart has been published.

by Joshua Abd Alla

The RAF Kinase Inhibitor Protein has a dual inhibitory function, it inhibits not only the RAF-MAPK pathway, but also the G-protein coupled receptor kinase 2 (GRK2). Consequently, the effects of RKIP on tumor cells and the heart are different: RKIP inhibits tumor growth but RKIP is detrimental for the heart, as found in the Quitterer lab. Our in-depth review explains the different functions of RKIP in tumor cells and in cardiomyocytes, and discusses mechanisms triggered by RKIP as a tumor growth inhibitor and as a GRK2 inhibitor.
